Terms of Service
Effective date: August 2026 · Operated by VYB-TECH HUB, trading as CampusPlug UG (registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, commencement date 24 August 2026), based in Kampala, Uganda
1. About CampusPlug UG
CampusPlug UG is an online marketplace and classifieds platform that allows verified Ugandan university students ("Sellers") to list their products and services for discovery by members of the public ("Buyers"). We are not a party to any transaction between Users. We do not manufacture, own, inspect, sell, resell, warehouse, ship, or deliver any item listed on the Platform, and we are not a buyer, seller, or agent for any User in any transaction. Any agreement to buy, sell, exchange, or provide a service is made solely between the Users involved, at their own risk.
2. Eligibility
To register as a Buyer, you must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction; Users between 16–17 may use the Platform only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms on their behalf. To register as a Seller, you must additionally: (a) be currently enrolled at a recognised Ugandan university; (b) have a valid university-issued student email address. We reserve the right to verify your student status, and to refuse service, suspend, or terminate any account at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or applicable law.
3. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account, and must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized access to your account resulting from your failure to safeguard your credentials. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it updated; providing false information may result in suspension or termination.
4. User Listings and Content
By posting a listing, comment, image, or other content ("User Content"), you represent that: you own the item or have the legal right to sell, list, or advertise it; the listing is accurate and not misleading as to price, condition, or description; the item is not stolen, counterfeit, prohibited, or unlawful to sell in Uganda; and the listing does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. You grant the Platform a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform. We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to review, edit, refuse, or remove any listing or content at our sole discretion, without liability to you.
5. Subscription Plans & Payment
Sellers must maintain an active subscription to keep their listings visible, purchased via MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money. A 30-day free trial is offered to all new sellers. Pricing, payment processing, refunds, and disputed transactions are governed by our separate Billing Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Seller WhatsApp Contact
By registering as a Seller, you acknowledge and consent that your WhatsApp phone number will be displayed publicly on your listing pages and visible to all users, including guests who are not registered on the Platform. You accept full responsibility for any contact you receive through this number; CampusPlug UG bears no responsibility for unwanted contact resulting from this public display.
7. Prohibited Items and Conduct
You may not list, advertise, or use the Platform to facilitate the sale of: firearms, weapons, or ammunition; illegal drugs or controlled substances; counterfeit or stolen goods; academic work for hire (assignments, exams, dissertations) or other content that facilitates academic dishonesty; pornographic or sexually exploitative material; items requiring a license you do not hold; or any item prohibited under Ugandan law. You may not use the Platform to: harass, defraud, or impersonate another person; scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Platform's operation; post spam or unauthorized advertising; or circumvent any security or access control. We reserve the right to remove prohibited listings and report unlawful activity to relevant Ugandan authorities, including the Uganda Police Force, without prior notice to the User.
8. No Warranty on Listings or Users
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." We do not verify the identity, credentials, ownership rights, or trustworthiness of Users, nor the accuracy, quality, safety, or legality of listed items. We make no warranty, express or implied, regarding any transaction, listing, or User conduct.
9. Disputes Between Users
Any dispute arising from a transaction — including non-delivery, misrepresentation, fraud, defective goods, or non-payment — is strictly between the Users involved. We are not obligated to mediate, investigate, or resolve such disputes, though we may do so at our discretion as a courtesy. We strongly recommend Users meet in safe, public locations and inspect items before completing any transaction.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted under Ugandan law, the Platform, its owners, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising from your use of the Platform. Our total aggregate liability to any User for any claim arising from or related to the Platform, however caused, shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees, if any, paid by that User to the Platform in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) UGX 100,000. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Ugandan law, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by proven negligence of the Platform itself.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Platform, its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: your use of the Platform; your User Content; your violation of these Terms; your violation of any law; or your dealings with another User.
12. Intellectual Property
All Platform branding, design, software, and original content (excluding User Content) are the property of VYB-TECH HUB, trading as CampusPlug UG, and protected under the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act, 2006 (Uganda) and applicable international treaties. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from the Platform without written permission. 13. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for suspected fraud, repeated policy violations, or conduct that harms other Users or the Platform.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, the dispute shall be submitted to arbitration in Kampala, Uganda, under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Cap. 4, before a sole arbitrator, in the English language. Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief from the competent courts of Uganda. Subject to this clause, the courts of Uganda, sitting in Kampala, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter not subject to arbitration.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be notified via the Platform or registered email where feasible.
